best way to solder existing wet pipework

how do you solder into a pipe thats got residual water in it, and can i just use compression joints if on central heating pipework thats under the floor?

As far as I'm aware there should be no problem using compression fittings, they've got to be able to stand quite a lot of pressure for various situations,

and compression fittings are fine with plastic pipe, provided you remember the inserts of-course  Grin
